Is ITAM the same as a CMDB?

No, ITAM and a CMDB are not the same thing, but they do complement each other.
ITAM focuses on managing the lifecycle of IT assets: from purchase and use to depreciation. The aim is to control costs, ensure compliance and optimise the use of hardware and software.

A CMDB (Configuration Management Database) focuses on the relationships between IT components within your infrastructure and primarily supports operational management and incident management.

Does good ITAM prevent security incidents?
